By Kelsey Thorpe, School Board Chair of Cedar Brook School
Dear Families and Community members,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kelsey Thorpe and I am the new Cedar Brook School Board Chair. Some of you may remember me as the Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher from the 2017-2018 school year or you may know me from the Foxboro SDA Church. For those of you who don’t know me, here is a brief synopsis. I am originally from Redlands, California and graduated with my B.S. in Elementary Education from Walla Walla University. I am married to an aspiring college professor, who is in the Neuroscience PhD program at Brown University. I am also currently at Brown University working as a program assistant in their Community Partnerships office. Though I ultimately decided to pursue a career path other than teaching, my love for CBS and the people who support it prompted me to accept an invitation to join the Cedar Brook School Board in the fall of 2018. I have greatly enjoyed serving on the board as a member, and am excited to be able to support CBS in becoming the best it can be for our students in this new role as School Board Chair.
As the School Board Chair, I think planning for educational programs and facilities should be considered thoughtfully and prayerfully. As a result, I would like to craft a strategic plan with the school board to guide the CBS in the coming years. I have asked Heidi Sabnani (Zegarra) AbD, an educational consultant, to help gather data from stakeholders and craft a draft of a strategic plan to bring to the school board for revisions and approval.
